SENIOR PEOPLE & CAPABILITY ADVISOR, TENNANT CREEK – Salary ASO Level 8.1 – 8.4 ($92,912 $109,015)

This position has a strong incentive salary packaging, subsided accommodation (applicants outside Barkely region), relocation assistant, 6 weeks annual leave, professional development, remote retention allowance, access to Health Clinic.

 DUTIES

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Section Managers to ensure update Job Descriptions and performance appraisals are carried out.
  • Oversee and support recruitment staff for all vacancies.
  • Networking through industry contacts, social media, and employees
  • Liaise with media for the timely advertising of vacancies
  • Oversee screening of applications, shortlisting, interviews in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely reference/background checks are carried out.
  • Ensure that drafting and issue letters to unsuccessful applicants occurs.
  • Ensure that Employment Contracts to new and existing employees are issued
  • Arrange relocation and travel when necessary
  • Maintain accurate Staff and Recruitment records
  • Ensure that all HR databases are maintained and up to date.
  • Work closely with Payroll to ensure correct personal information and pay rates
  • Draft reports in conjunction with the HR Executive for reporting to Executive/Board.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting
  • Provide high level HR/IR administration support.
  • Represent at Employment Exhibitions and give presentations at local Schools/ student groups to increase awareness of the organization before and after career fairs.
  • Keep abreast to current employment and HR legislation and best practice principals
  • Comply with all Health policy and procedures, including use of approved IT programs for electronic data management, including the sharing and advocacy of this information to fellow colleagues.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  1. Respect for and responsiveness to Aboriginal culture and protocols including support for Aboriginal self-determination.
  2. A qualification (or substantially completed) in Human Resources and/or demonstrated experience of no less than two years’ experience in recruitment/human resources administration and/or office administration, and knowledge of OH&S legislation and its application in the workplace.
  3. Knowledge of your role in an Aboriginal community-controlled environment, and understanding of issues pertaining to recruitment or human resources management in a cross-cultural environment.
  4. Experience or understating of recruiting and have demonstrated skills in database
  5. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  6. Ability to work responsibly including the ability to plan and use time effectively
  7. An ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
  8. An ability to maintain the confidential nature of human resources work.
  9. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment

Desirable

  1. Recruitment administration or similar experience.
  2. General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
  3. Membership for AHRI.
