Senior Project Officer –  Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB)

This position will work closely with the SEWB Team to support the delivery of projects and activities that enhance SEWB practise, develop and support targeted SEWB and SEWB) and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) workforce and deliver training in the areas of culturally responsive trauma informed care practice, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, coaching and mentoring and SEWB.

We are seeking someone with demonstrated appropriate interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, including the ability to engage with a range of health services, management, health professionals, elders, and community members.

  1. Ability to lead the development and facilitation of professional development activities, training and learning outcomes to diverse audiences and the ability to present the programs training programs in public forums.
  2. Possess high-level project management and problem-solving skills that contribute to planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and initiatives.
  3. Demonstrated ability to undertake desktop research and culturally safe engagement with Aboriginal organisations, leaders and communities to inform the evidence-base to improve the quality of programs and program outcomes.
  4. Knowledge and proven ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Sharepoint.
  5. Ability to travel to remote locations by plane or vehicle on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL

  1. Work experience and/or qualifications in one of the following disciplines: social and emotional wellbeing, suicide prevention and mental health; community development; social work; alcohol and other drugs; or counselling.
  2. Proven ability as senior project officer or equivalent role, including previous experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and preparing program compliance reports.
  3. Possess knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, and histories and an understanding of the impact of colonisation and how it relates to current social, emotional and health issues for Aboriginal communities, families and individuals.

 DESIRABLE

  1. Experience working in an Aboriginal-controlled organisation.
  2. Qualifications in project management, Cert 4 training and assessment, trauma-informed care, narrative therapies.

Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) programs are incorporated into the work of the SEWB team and includes support for services focused on culturally responsive trauma informed practice, suicide prevention and post-vention, workforce development, research and policy.

 Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and processes for maintaining collaborative, consultative relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and key organisations to improve access to SEWB training programs delivered face-to-face and online.
  2. Undertake desktop research and stakeholder engagement to inform the evidence-base whilst working in collaboration with the SEWB team to develop new or enhance existing training, practise resources, tools, workshop plans and reports to produce high-quality products.
  3. Prepare and facilitate content development workshops for the SEWB team continuously develop and deepen content knowledge of SEWB training programs whilst ensuring that new learnings are evidence-based, culturally safe and trauma-informed, informed by narrative approaches and upholds values and practices of SEWB.
  4. Lead projects in collaboration with SEWB team that facilitate SEWB training and organisational change programs that are underpinned by trauma informed approaches and provide workforce mentoring and support to ACCHS to apply in practice learning outcomes.
  5. In collaboration with the SEWB Manager and the Workforce Development Coordinator lead the planning, promotion, coordination and post-event review of project events and initiatives that provide peer support, networking and sharing of best practice models across the SEWB workforce.
  6. Manage projects, objectives resources and timeframes that support best practice model’s of SEWB and AOD programs as directed by SEWB Manager and Workforce Development Coordinator.
  7. Provide expertise and advice on emerging issues and strategic opportunities that benefit enhancing SEWB within the ACCHS sector by undertaking sector engagement to inform external engagement on committees and working groups; data collection and analysis; and preparation of project plans, board papers and other high quality documents.
  8. Work collaboratively within the SEWB team to contribute to professional learning and reflective practice, general administrative duties, and contribute to maintaining internal and external communication processes.
  9. Undertake other tasks as directed by SEWB Manager.
