TO3 Technical Officer
All Aspects Recruitment & HR Services are seeking candidates for a TO3 Technical Officer for a temporary role until 31st March 2025 with the possibility of extension.
- $54.34 - $58.64 p/h including casual loading
- Bundaberg based
Duties include:
- Trial field plan design and layout and trial implementation.
- Soil and plant sample collection, weighing, recording, and processing
- Tractor operation planting; fertilising and application of crop protectants.
- Calibration of planters, fertiliser applicators and spray rigs.
- Identification of weeds, pests, and diseases.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery at field days, shed meetings and industry events
- Collaborate with project leaders and other team members on a range of research, development, and extension projects.
- Successfully implement field trials and demonstrations that will necessitate site selection; grower engagement; field trial agreements; trial plan layout and design; tractor operation; planter/spray boom/fertiliser calibration; identification of weeds/pests/diseases; application of crop protectants.
- Make observations and accurately recording data from the field and the lab to capture plant growth, nutrient uptake, input use efficiency, biomass, and processing of sample for further analysis
- Attain plant growth and final yield from soybean, peanut, and sugarcane crops.
- Interact with producers to encourage practice change that is reportable through the P2R projector app.
Requirements:
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Commercial Operators License for the safe application of herbicides.
- Hold a current ‘C’ class driver licence.
- Diploma in Applied Science, Rural Science, or Rural Techniques from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications in a field relevant to the position.
- Ability to conduct field trials and demonstrations at a high standard.
- Ability to capture plant growth and nutrient uptake data through plant and soil sampling techniques.
- Ability to identify weeds, pests, and diseases.
- Knowledge of the sugarcane farming system.
- Practical knowledge of how to implement grain legume rotations, reduced tillage techniques and precision controlled traffic farming techniques
- Ability to electronically capture and store data for statistical analysis.
