This position will be responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of property, plant and equipment for a high-profile organisation and its subsidiaries. Developing and analysing monthly financial reporting as well providing support and advice to business units to ensure compliance with finance and asset related policies.

Primary Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of property, plant and equipment in Statutory and Management Reports, ensuring internal and external reporting requirements are met.
  2. Provide expert advice and support across business units regarding assets including capitalisation, ensuring compliance with policies, processes and Accounting Standards to provide a sound asset management framework for the Corporation.
  3. Co-ordinate annual valuations to ensure property, plant and equipment reflects fair value.
  4. Responsible for maintaining and updating accounting policies in relation to asset and capitalisation.
  5. Carry out duties in accordance with the organisations safety, environmental and quality policy, safety principles, corporate values and strategies
Essential Criteria
  • Superior people skills, with proven experience in managing successful teams to ensure work objectives are met within time frames in an environment of change and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, providing timely and accurate work with a high level of attention to detail and willingness to respond to changing work environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal negotiation and mediation skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to interact effective with people of diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with operational line of business and communicate complex accounting theory to non-accountants.
  • High level analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
  • degree in accounting and Certified Practicing Accountant/Chartered Accountant qualification or near qualification;
  • demonstrated experience in complex fixed asset accounting theory including tax strategy and valuation techniques;
  • experience in the operations of a large enterprise resource planning system such as Oracle or Maximo;
  • Experience in utilities, heavy industries or related environments.
