Psychological Testing & Assessment

For some positions, employers may ask that you take a psychological, or psychometric test.

Don't be disturbed in any way by this. These type of tests are often used by employers when seeking to fill graduate or professional positions, and rarely for trades, clerical or other positions.

They are used in addition to interviews, and include a variety of testing methods for further insight into the applicant’s personality, motivations and abilities.

These type of assessments are often administered as a series of online tests and are intended to assess a candidate’s abilities, personality, motivations, values and interests as they may apply to a particular role. They benefit both the employer in determining how you would fit into their workplace, but they also benefit the applicant in giving you a better understanding of the culture and approach of the employer. They may also give you an insight into yourself.

Importantly, these type of assessents can actually be fun to do. If you enjoy quizes etc, then you may actually enjoy these type of tests. Generally speaking, there is no "pass" or "fail" for these assessments, so please don't be intimidated by the idea of having to do one.

We have created an overview (Registered Users Only) which will help to take the mystery out of psychological assessment and provide you with some useful tips.
