Trainee Materials Officer

All Aspects Recruitment & HR Services are currently seeking Assistant Materials Officers for a temporary role for approx. 6 months with possibility of extension.

• Warwick location
• $42.25 per hour including casual loading

In the role of Trainee Materials Officer, you will undertake activities associated with sampling and testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt used in road transport infrastructure construction.

Duties include –

• Perform materials testing procedures under supervision in accordance with departmental standards, specifications, policies and procedures.  
• Assist with investigation and research projects using project management principles.   
• Assist in the analysis of test data ensuring consistency in accuracy and timely output of work. 
• Ensure operational practices and standards of service and performance comply with departmental and regional policies, legislation (incl. WH&S) and governance obligations.
• Use all equipment, apparatus and reagents in keeping with documented procedures as well as ensure all personal protection equipment (PPE) and other safety devices are used when and as directed.
• The role requires these tasks be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments at any time of the calendar year and may at times be working under supervision in isolated locations.
• Assist with field work, travel with experienced staff on pavement investigations and site sampling exercises to various locations within the region.

Requirements –

• May at times be working in isolated locations where there will be limited/no mobile phone coverage for periods of up to 5 days. The Department ensures that appropriate levels of contact are maintained between their employees and the home base.
• A significant percentage of your work requires regular and repeated physical tasks involving heavy testing equipment, shovelling, walking through adverse terrain and lifting heavy samples up to (25kg).
• Current C Class Drivers licence.
• Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the Southern Queensland Region, including overnight dependant on location of project. (Accommodation, meals, incidentals included)
