Assistant Director, Township Leasing and Engagement

The Department has been designed to create options for land administration on Aboriginal Land which focus on establishing secure land tenure and streamlining land administration in order to facilitate economic opportunities in remote Aboriginal communities, including home ownership and business development.
The Department has responsibility for implementing all land tenure arrangements including the Township Leases and other leases for which the Executive Director has responsibility.
The Department work is focused on the on the administration, operational delivery and sustainability of land tenure arrangements, including facilitating economic opportunities. The Departments work requires a collaboration with Aboriginal Traditional Owners and other key stakeholders including sublessees, community members, commercial operators and governments.

Description of the role
As Assistant Director you and the Township Leasing and Engagement team will be responsible for managing new and existing leasing arrangements between the Executive Director and sublessees. You will also be responsible for the preparation of briefings and advice to the Executive Director about leasing and community development matters. This role will require you to develop strategic relationships across levels of government, with Traditional Land Owners and other key stakeholders such as Land Councils and Regional Councils, and within the local community to assess applications for land use and to identify opportunities for collaboration between land owners, agencies or providers that may benefit the community.
The position of Assistant Director Township Leasing and Engagement is responsible for:
Stakeholder engagement – develop and maintain effective relationships across multiple agencies and level of governments, Traditional land owners and stakeholders. Supporting ongoing community consultation to implementation of leases.
Organising and facilitating Consultative forum meetings - responsible to organise, administration and facilitation of Consultative Forum Meetings including community visits / field trips.
Subleases and other documentation – quality assurance for the Departments land administration functions, accessing of applications and other documentation.
Policy and procedure - Providing advice to the Director relating to any issues identified though communication with stakeholders or other third parties
Supervision and management - Assisting management with supervision of team workloads and monitoring projects progress, including the preparation and quality assurance of briefings, minutes, and advice relating to OTL business.
