Grants Officer

Position Overview
The Grants Officer reports to the General Manager in the first instance and is responsible for the duties set out below in respect to the Tiwi Land Council (TLC).
Responsibilities
1. Research, identify and prioritise eligible grant opportunities
2. Liaise and cooperate with the Economic Development Officer, where a business proposal/plan is required to support funding applications
3. Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders to understand projects requiring funding and maximise knowledge of available and upcoming grants
4. Assist proponents with the application process, including some analysis of the concept and likelihood of success or otherwise whilst managing expectations
5. Review and work with proponents to complete applications for eligible grants ensuring that all are submitted in a timely manner
6. Arrange documentation and assist in completing reporting to comply with organisational and grant approval requirements
7. Develop a data set to capture all grant proposals, submitted or not, successful or not and track and report all grant application outcomes to the CFO
8. Develop an annual ‘Grants strategy’, including working collaboratively with governments to identify funding opportunities which align with Tiwi aspirations
9. Assist the Field Officers team with funding information, annual reports, work plans and corporate plans
10. Ensuring appropriate confidentiality of information is maintained at all times
11. Completing ad-hoc reporting as required
12. Take on additional tasks and projects at the direction of GM/CEO
Selection Criteria
1. A minimum of two years’ experience in the grant’s application process, including the not-for-profit organisation space
2. Experience in working with Indigenous people and in remote environments
3. Displayed knowledge of the ABA grant application process in particular
4. Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals
5. General knowledge of Federal, NT and philanthropic funding bodies
6. Be detail oriented, organised, have succinct, clear and concise writing skills and be deadline driven
7. Regular reporting on applications to CEO/Chairman/GM
8. Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
9. Be highly proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
10. Hold a current NT Drivers Licence and a Working With Children’s Clearance (Ochre Card)
11. Be prepared to travel in small airplanes to remote communities as required
Other information
This position will be based in our Darwin office with travel required to the Tiwi Islands. The position is full-time averaging 36.75 hours per week with remuneration of $111,500p.a. plus superannuation.
