Chief Executive Officer – Northern Territory
Primary Objective: The primary objective of the Chief Executive Officer is to effectively manage the operations of the organisation in accordance with delegated authorities: to provide accurate and sound advice to the Board to enable informed decisions and to ensure the implementation of the Board’s resolutions in a timely and appropriate manner.
Role Purpose: The CEO’s role is to provide overall leadership and management for the organisation to ensure the aspirations of the members are achieved. The CEO has overall responsibility for all governance, reporting, staff, project management and local service delivery in line with relevant legislation and funding agreements. This operates within a cross-culture setting. It requires a leader that is flexible, accountable and adaptable, who can work with multiple stakeholders at any given time.
Role:
Represent
- As required, represent Mungoorbada Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) and its corporation in meetings with government and industry.
Advocacy and compliance
- Is responsible for assisting the board with strategic planning.
- Identification and accessing of financial and other resources, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on the success of services and other program delivery within Robinson River.
- Work with the board to draft and update strategic framework.
- Draft, and implement a new defined delegation of authority to the signed off by the board for future use.
- Ensure that the Human Resources policies, contracts, and position descriptions are reviewed and updated in accordance with legislation, relevant for the corporation and applied consistently.
Operations matter
- Responsible for the efficient organisation, management, and operation of the MAC Office.
- Ensuring that procedures are effectively followed, policies are correctively interpreted and implemented, working within given deadlines, if required.
- Exercising delegated authority and approving expenditure on all maters within the limits as set down from time to time, and within the guidelines of the Regulations with approval of the board.
- Coordinate support for the Board and Members meeting, including providing reporting, minute taking, maintenance of all accurate records with the membership roll.
- Maintain the accounting functions and report regularly to the board on financial situation.
- Property Management, including maintenance and security of buildings.
- Ensuring the principles of EEO and WHS are applied to all staff and resources. Encourage and support local employment.
- Preparation and submissions of budgets to the Board as required.
- Maintain updated asset register.
- Management and leadership of all staff and contractors including volunteers.
- Preparation of reports and correspondence as required.
- Promote / support all organisation work areas and programs.
- Train staff through clear instructions and/or demonstration on the job with internal/external source.
- Make recommendations concerning selection, training, performance management to ensure kpi’s are achieved.
- Active involvement in committees and meeting dealings with the administration.
- Undertake forward planning, budgeting and scheduling of works programs and preplanning of all projects.
Economic Development
- The objects of each Local Aboriginal Land Corporation are to improve, protect and foster the best interest of all Aboriginal persons within the corporation’s area and other persons who are members of the corporation. The CEO should continue to drive this process.
