DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - PORT AUGUSTA, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Pika Wiya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation:

  1. Responsible for supporting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the overall day-to-day management of the Pika Wiya Health Service.
  1. Work closely with senior representatives of other organisations and government agencies.
  1. Develop and strengthen staff knowledge and capacity on programmes and report requirements and alignment with service delivery.
  1. Close liaison and work relationships across the Department of Health, Country Health SA (FUNLHN) Aboriginal representative organisations, Aboriginal Health Council of SA and key stakeholders in Commonwealth, State and Local Government and external bodies.
  1. Liaise with Aboriginal communities to promote PWHSAC service, to identify and address the needs through a collaborative approach with other existing service providers.

Duties Required

  • Contribute knowledge and understanding of social Issues surrounding Primary Health Care principles in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Contributes vision and supports the CEO in identifying strategic priorities developing plans and designing policies to meet organisational aims and objectives.
  • Providing high level strategic advice and analysis to the CEO for the management of key initiatives and programs including identifying changes in the external political, social and economic environments, which will affect service provision.

Support the CEO in the effective financial and administration management of the PWHS Health Service through:

  • Contributing to the development, oversight and implementation of the organisation's budget and ensure effective budgetary control and reporting system's including detailed financial reports to the Board at every meeting in an appropriate and easily understood format.
  • Work with the CEO and relevant staff to identify and exploit opportunities for additional funding for service expansion and projects to meet organisational goals and vision.
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of procedure manual and systems for the effective management of the corporation.
  • Support the CEO with compliance with the rules of the corporation and reporting to the Board where they are being or may be breached.

Ensure the effective management of Human Resources by:

  • Providing leadership, management and guidance to employees.
  • Contribute to ensuring that employees are provided with regular performance appraisals, effective feedback on performance and ongoing support.
  • Support the CEO in ensuring the organisation's compliance with relevant Awards, Agreements.
  • Support the CEO with industrial relations legislation.

 Additional:

  • Must be willing to work out of hours including evenings and weekends if required.

   Some intra and interstate travel will be required, which may involve some overnight absences and travel by a light aircraft will be required. 

  • Hold a current SA driver's license and willingness to drive substantial distances are essential.
  • Applicants will be required to produce a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement of appointment and renewed every 3 years thereafter from the date of issue.
  • Must produce clearance for DSCI Working with Children and DCSI Aged Care Sector checks prior to commencement of appointment and renewed every 5 and 3 years thereafter from the date of issue.
  • Required to participate in an annual performance development (PD) agreement for the achievement of outcomes.
  •  No fixed hours of duty.
